Meet Dr. Marisa Blickhan

Dr. Marisa Blickhan graduated from Southern Illinois University School of Dental Medicine in 2024 and joined our team at Hite Family Dentistry shortly after. Her undergraduate work was in biological sciences, with minors in forensic sciences and chemistry, a background built almost entirely on evidence and careful observation. That turns out to be a useful way to think about teeth. She catches the small things during your exam, and small things are where most dental problems begin.

She knew early on that this was the work she wanted, long before she ever sat behind your chair. Dentistry sits right where her two strongest instincts meet: solving problems and getting the details right. She is a self-described perfectionist, which is exactly the trait you want in the person deciding how your new filling should meet the tooth beside it.

Her deepest interest in dentistry is helping people get past dental anxiety. If you have been dreading this appointment, she wants you to leave thinking it went far better than you expected. Watching someone walk out with a different attitude toward dental care than the one they walked in with is the part of her job she finds most rewarding, and she is patient about getting you there.

She also values how our office runs, and you feel the benefit of it. Everyone here backs each other up, so your visit is supported by the whole team rather than one person, and the standard of care stays consistent from room to room.

Outside the office, Dr. Blickhan likes trying things she has not tried before, whether that is a new restaurant, a new city, or a concert or comedy show she has been waiting on. At home she embroiders and works on jigsaw puzzles, which tracks for someone who enjoys precise work all day. She will also happily admit to being a devoted fan of reality TV.
